Fellas, I'm fixin to do my first three hole service on my 08 SG, 20k miles. I've done work on bikes in the past but this is my first Harley, is there things anyone can think of that I should look at? I've read about critical fasteners in other post but I've got no idea what this entails. I tried to get the service manual yesterday but the stealership didn't have any in stock.
I have found the primary funnel harley sells very useful. And a good filter wrench that attaches to a ratchet w/ extention. Overall pretty straight forward. Always do my own, can do it all in 30 min or so depending on how fast it all drains
Stealership........Gezuz man, if they're stealing from you you're a fool to do business with them.
Check eBay for an '08 Manual. Failing that, if you ask that "stealership" real nice they might print a 10K service list for you. Maybe even for free!
So after I was done with my work I poured the old oil back in the bottles and only filled a little over 4 qts. This is the first change since I bought it, I don't know if the bike is burning it or if it was under serviced from the place I bought it from. There is no visible leaks.

Ok, 3.5 in the engine, 1 in the primary, and 32 oz in the tranny. More than likely the engine was a little low (3 qts) a little from the primary low (.75 qts) and a few ounces from the tranny. Youre good. Now go ride it an next oil change youll be better informed if your low again....
