Mile 950 of a 1,000 mile road trip with the wife and full load of gear. I rode over a debris field of truck tire particles. Didn't think much of it. A minute later the rear tire goes totally flat and the bike starts swaying. I held it together and let it come to a stop on its own. Good news, we're safe.
Thanks to AMA towing coverage we're on our way to Moroney's Harley Davidson. Another bit of luck. This is the night they're open until 8:30 PM. They have my tire in stock, submit the bill to ESP and we're on our way home with a brand new tire.
Thanks to AMA towing, Moroney's HD and ESP.
Glad you made it. It is very scarey. Happened to me at about 40mph and sent me into oncoming traffic when the rim actually made contact with the road. It also happens fast. I will never forget how huge the grill of an F150 looks up close. I made it past with maybe two feet to spare on the opposite side of the road. Had to buy a new seat. Guy in the truck came up and gave me a bear hug, he had his young son in the truck and he figured he was gonna kill me. Bead was actually of the rim. I found a sheetrock screw in after.
