I have been through a number of HD seats trying to get comfortable but to no avail. I have also sent my stock seat to Mean City for memory foam and modification, to be moved back and inch or two but that proved to be a total failure. I feel cramped on the stock seat and the Sundowner. Wasn't crazy about the Hammock although it did move me back.
I have been wanting to try the Mustang Super touring seat but I have never seen one in person and the dealers in my area have none in stock. They are back ordered, again, at Mustang so I cant get one immediately from them and send it back if I don't like it.
Here is my real concern with that seat. I have a detachable tour-pak and I also have all LED lighting so, there are two load equalizers under my seat. They are a custom dynamics equalizer and triple play. My concern is this; do you think it will all fit under the Mustang seat? Is the cavity underneath deep enough?
I'm also wondering if the seat will work well with stock handlebars. I'm 6' with 32" inseam.
Lastly, is the seat comfortable for 3 or 4 hr rides?
Looking forward to your input and comments. I can't wait till I can ride without thinkin' about my butt and tail bone!
But I have the Vintage Wide Touring seat on my
Heritage. It is the most comfortable seat I've
ever had on ANY motorcycle. The backrest is sweet
too. Totally adjustable.
I have one. I've run Mustangs on all my HDs. Now for your questions:
It has the same clearances underneath as the stock Harley seat pan. It will set you higher by about an inch and about an inch back. Should be good for your height and inseam.
Everybody's *** is different. Can't comment on the comfort you might experience. For me, I like the saddle just fine. I also have the backrest. Highly recommended.
Search this forum for Mustang. These questions have come up before.
As you know, I just unloaded mine. I can say that it was a great seat for up to 4-5 hours then my cheek bones became sore. I think I must have the worst bones there of anyone because until my RDL arrived all seats sucked for me. I found out this weekend that the RDL is in fact the answer for me. Mustang backrest is outstanding design. The whole seat is top quality. If I remember, it moved me back some from stock and I have 12.5" Wild One bars. I do not believe it sat me any higher.
I have Mustang Vintage Super touring seat on 09 Ultra have had it to years somewhat hard but the Mustang gives some much more room. I 6'1"with 33" inseam the stock seat just did not cut it. Also I have detachable tour pack plenty of room under seat pan to stow away cable no problem !!! I use a gel pad when the wife gets sore.
I have run Mustang seats on just about every Harley I have had in the last decade. You will NEVER be disappointed in either the quality of the seat, or the comfort. In most cases, Mustang seats sit on rubber perches and have more than adequate room for anything run under the seat, and certainly more than the stock seat. Yes, they sit you farther back than the stock seat as well. Not LOWER, but farther back.
Here's a picture of my mustang seat on my Softail last year. Its really just a matter of time before I put one on my Road King.
I have a Mustang Super Touring seat with a backrest. The stock seat was horrible. I had mean city rework it complete with a tail bone channel and my tail bone still hurt. On the mustang seat my tail bone pain is very minimal. Little to no tailbone pain. My *** still gets sore after a couple hours in the saddle but if I stop and get off for awhile I'm ready to go again. Buy one from Dennis Kirk. They have a no questions asked return policy. At least you could put it on your bike and take it for a spin to see what you think.
Wow! I thought this seat would be more popular than the few responses here. Mustang can't keep it in stock so I figure there would be many more owners on this forum.
C & C will move you down and back 3/4-1 inch.
That is their standard.
It is almost but not as quite as firm as the Corbin.
Chewy of C & C used to work for Corbin and Chuck used to work for Danny Gray.
You might be happy with their seat.
I had one but it moved me too far back and my wife said it encroached in her space.
