Default Keep or try and trade

Had to go and get a floorboard insert today at the local dealer. They had a 08 ultra for 15990 with 22,000 miles and a 10 ultra with 12,000 for 16990. I have a 05 ultra with about 44,000 miles. But mine is paid for just wondering if it is worth trying to trade up or just keep mine. Lets see what everyone says.

For me it would depend on what they offered for trade. Also I would only be interested in the newer one. Bigger motor and newer frame design is worth a few hundred more IMO

EXACTLY! 2009 & up is a much better bike. I went from 2006 to 2010. World of difference.

I'd see what kind of a deal you could get on the 10

I think they could do a little better on the price of the '10, and definitely the '08 with almost double the miles on it. If you can get a decent buck for yours I'd personally go for the '10. Like others said, it has the bigger engine, and the newer frame.

If you can agree on a good price on both I would go for the '10, thinking of doing the same with my 04 at the end of the year when dealers are slow in the winter.

I had a 2005 when the 2009's came out and test drove one and traded on the spot.Newer frame and wider rear tire made the difference. If your going to trade,go for the 2010.

Your bike has more value to you than to a dealer- more than to a private party buyer- as you value the machine and the extras ( typically $2K) which make it fit you.
You also have insider information on condition, repairs etc.

So you can move it on and maybe take a loss.

and take on the financial burden of a new bike.

If you have cash in pocket, then do what you want- it's only money.
and you should get a new model off the sales floor.

If you budget your money for housing, car, education and other expenses- how is another payment sitting on top of that pile going to look each month....don't forget the insurance premium will be higher with a new bike too- and you'll maybe dump $2K in geegaws or accessories ( or the dealer installed stage 1- that can be $2K alone)
Especially a used bike where maybe you are buying someone else's problems.

Here is where you need to display financial responsibility- if you have other obligations.
If not and you have funds- go get a new one.

or replace the floorboard rubber.
