Default help with performance question, please??

I have the 4 inch Rhinehart slip-ons and the fuel moto crossover pipe w/out catalytic converter. I also have the Power Commander 5 on my 2013 CVO Ultra classic. I was told the other day that Rhinehart is just living off their reputation these days. And that They are among the worst when it comes to performance. Is this guy just hating on my setup, or is there some merit to what he said? I wouldn’t mind my pipes being just a touch louder. Thanks in advance for any input

for a stage 1 bike- just opening up the intake and exhaust- as you have- will give an increase in power- about 7 to 10 HP depending on components chosen.

the "magic" is in the header system- tubing size and length, crossover- how those factors affect the harmonic pulses/ reversion and how they affect scavenging.

you shouldn;t care what some douche thinks....I for instance think those pipes tend to sound crappy and are overpriced- so I use something else.
you shouldn;t care what i think.

rinehart has only been around Harleys for maybe 15 years....it's not like they've been around like Bub, Supertrapp, Kerker or Thunderheader.

my concern is the performance part. I don’t really care that he doesn’t like them. I just wonder if I went with something else, would my bike come to life. I love the clean look of the RHineharts. I do not like them so much Im willing to sacrifice performance though. Thanks for your opinion

no huge amazing difference from a muffler swap is what i was getting at.

you are at Stage 1- next is cams, displacement, headwork if you feel you need more power.

you are probably at optimal power output for what you have...about 78 HP...assuming the PC5 settings are correct.

Most mufflers have nothing to do with power and everything to do with sound.

Mufflers most certainly do contribute to power, particularly if you are looking to get maximum output from a particular build. For me, however, a couple of hp's or ft lb.'s doesn't really matter. I can tell you my crushers delivered bigger numbers on my build than the twin slashes I had on before. Builders/tuners see these combinations and their output potential all the time and most don't care for Rineharts for this reason. If I preferred the sound of a given muffler I would not worry about the few ponies I left on the table.

would replacing the stock header pipes makes that much difference? As previously stated its a 2013 ultra CVO with fuel moto crossover pipe with no catalytic converter. Power commander 5 and Rhinehart 4 inch slip ons.

It looks like you already replaced the stock headers with the FM crossover. If you want to make all the power your tuner guy is referring to, you could try better mufflers but I don't think it will be dramatic. The Kury Crusher mufflers are becoming popular due to the power they help produce and they sound/look good. I have the mellow version with the slip stream tips.

Yes replacing the stock header does make a difference. In this instance you removed the catalytic converter and went to 2-1-2. The 2-1-2 emulates the performance increases of a 2-1 pipe and provides some useful gains.

I'm pretty happy with my Rinehart mufflers and Fuel Moto 2-1-2 head pipes. You can try other mufflers if you like but I wouldn't expect to see more than 1-2 HP difference with good aftermarket mufflers that flow well, and a lot of that is probably related to the tune.
