Default Question that needs an answer....

I searched the forum, Google searched the web and still didn't find a direct answer to my question. Posted in the electrical section, 118v later and no answers....

I need some guidance with wiring up my RK Police 3 wire tach to my non police 07 RK. I think I have it figured out but before I start cutting/splicing wires I'd like some feedback...

After looking at the wiring diagrams in my FSM, this looks like a workable solution..

PK tach wire connect to pin 3 in the ECU. Then ground to pin 2 in the data link and pwr to pin 4 in the data link. I am thinking of using the blue connectors that you fold in half and they cut thru the wire.

What do ya'll think?

Do NOT use those they are junk! Strip off some of the casing where you are going to make the connection and splice the tach wires into it. Solder the wires together, if you can, use heat shrink with glue to protect it from moisture. If you lived near Detroit I'd be more than happy to help you out. If you don't have any experience with doing any electrical work take it somewhere. It will last forever if done properly! Blue crimps= JUNK!

good to know about the blue crimp things. I'll have to do some research on how to correctly splice wires together. I already have heat shrink. The solder wont vibrate loose? I have heard that from some people that a HD will vibrate the solder loose over time.

If you buy real good heat shrink with glue in it , you don't even need to solder it, just nest the strands of wire together, and heat it.
The dealer had some , and one of the techs is a friend, he did it on some wire , and said pull it apart, I tried, and broke the insulation that was a ways away from the heat shrink....Real good stuff.
