Do you pay a fee for gps like you do for xm service? thanks

No. Let me add that the GPS signal only tells the device where it is, and the device interprets that based on software to tell you where you are. Themapping software gets updated, and if you want the latest and greatest, you have to pay for it.

ni:ne ,nil. that crossed my mind too. None of the discriptions of the units talk about fees so dont think any of them charge.

the gps unit in my jeep commander even updates when there is new road construction. they just tore up the road by my house and now the gps will navigate you around the construction all with no fee
