Default new cams

Hello, I am new to this site ( as a member ). I always read the forum and enjoy all the topics on this site. I have a 2013 triglide with stage 1 download, se breather, V&H X PIPE, Rinehart 3.5 slipons along with the pro race tuner. I took my trike to the dealer 3 weeks ago for the 5000 mile service and to have se 255 cams and adj. pushrods installed. Total time was to take about 5 hrs to do all. 11 hours later I finally got to leave the dealership. I live 100 miles away from the dealership that I bought this trike from. The trike never would run right from the time I left. I turned around and went back and they said they could not find anything wrong. Barely made it home and they had to come pick it up two days later. Brought it back to me and had to turn around and haul it back. The problem is the trike will not take off on a incline without having to ride the clutch to keep it from falling on it's face. They finally sent it to another place to have a Dyno done and said it is fixed. It runs great after you get it going but it did not have this problem before the cams were installed. I have had bigger cams installed in my 88 cu on my 05 ultra and never had this problem. I have friends with the same 255 cams installed on other bikes. None are trikes. With the chart I recieved with this dyno it showes about 75 hp and about 90 tq.Has anybody else ever had this problem? I am just thinking that they are not getting a good tune. Please Help.

As much as I am sure they will hate to do it they need to open it back up and check their installation. It sounds like they might be a tooth off on the cam alignment.

Yes sir. That is the first thing I thought and they actually went back in and checked that and other issues such as the first thing they said eas a bad fuel cap. Don't know where they come up with that. Then they said very little compression on front cylinder caused by a stuck lifter. They said one of the push rods were backwards ( Exhaust and Intake. ). As long as they jacked around with it I really don't think they have a very good Tech crew there. I asked them have they ever installed these cams on trikes before. They said all the time. I wonder.

That was my first thought. Definitely seems to be a mechanical issue. Those are some weak Dyno numbers for that combination as well. I hate to say it, but you may need to take it somewhere else and see what they say. If they find something wrong with the installation, then go back to the dealer and get your money back. Where are you located? Perhaps someone here could recommend a good shop near you.

Tyler,Texas. We have a dealer here but no way would I ever have them work on any bike of mine. I thought that those numbers were low my self. I sure could use some good info about a shop or an indv. around here that knows what they are doing. The dealership that I bought this trike from and the one that did this work has always been good to me. They are in Dallas. I am thinking that they must have lost a lot of good tech's. lately.

Hopefully someone knows a good shop near you. Only other thing I can think of is just to check the basics yourself like plug gaps, electrical connections, vent line isn't pinched under console, etc.

If they mixed up the pushrods then more than likely you could possibly have a bent valve. That is a stupid mistake for a dealer to do ! The numbers speak for themselves on the trouble somewhere. You might as well bite the bullet and call GMR and get it fixed.

Very cool for the OP. I've heard great things about them, just didn't realize they were down that way.

Thanks for the info about gmr. I will call them. About the bent pushrod I questioned them about that also. Of course they said no it was not bent.
