Ok, I have a 1999 Ultra. Bought it a couple of years ago and it only had 10k on it. Just turned 22k. I have decided to upgrade the sound system. Thought a while about upgrading performance but since I have a second bike, 03 vrod I am opting for the sound system. I realize I could facing a cam tensioner issue in a few miles/years. I'd like a new bike but hey, paid for is nice in one respect. If I was willing to put 1000 to 1200 in a system, any ideas? I'd like to do the work myself.

Very easy. Are you sticking with the factory head unit, upgrading to a '06-'13 Harman Kardon, or aftermarket?
With a bike that old, my first stop would be Biketronics, especially if you plan on an aftermarket head unit.
