The NAPA in my town looked through all of their books and was not able to find a + size repair plug for the o-ring sealing plug like the one used on the Harley oil pan. If you have a part number that would be very helpful.
I do not. I have used them on only two different occasions, and if I had to guess, they were for automotive style oil pans. That being said, to my knowledge, both of the ones I have personally installed are still on the bikes and working perfectly. Remember fabrik8r, this is not a factory repair. This is nothing but a self tapping bolt for idiots like myself who strip the wafer thin MOCO oil pans, and don't want to install new ones. If your looking for a correct, o-ring self tapping drain plug, this isn't the answer. They are just a quick fix. But they work.
Took my 2013 Street Glide in for the 1,000 mile service . A week later I see a drip under the bike . I get a flash lite and sure enuff drain plug stripped . Call the dealer and of course no way his service guy did that ( who did ) . Well they put a new pan on it at no cost .
If it wasn't for the fact that I was going to leave on a long trip the next morning, this whole thing may have not happened. I did have the plug turned in about 3 or 4 turns before I put the socket to it. Turns out the threads on the plug were cut very shallow (check your plug threads). The mechanic installed a helicoil insert and better plug. So the final bill was 1.5 hours labor at $100 an hour. On the receipt it says flushed with Syn3, so there's another $60. After taxes and a new plug, $250. From now on whenever I change my oil I will be turning the plug in as far as my fingers can turn it.
