Default Highway pegs - are you an "innie" or an "outie"

I just installed highway pegs on my 14 RK. I have put off doing this as I never cared for the look of highway pegs but a series of fairly long trips convinced me that I should try them.

I assumed that everyone installed them outside the crash bars but I noticed a bike with them installed on the inside of the bars and thought I would try it first as it looks better that way IMHO. Anyway I really prefer the inside location as my legs are less spread eagled and my thighs kinda hug the tank which is quite comfortable.

I was concerned that my heels would drag on the brake and shifter but mounted as high as you can go on the bars this is not a problem.

I haven't seen another bike with them mounted inside since the first one.

Is anyone else out there an "innnie" in the highway peg department.?

Never tried them on the inside. My concern would be getting my foot caught if I had to quickly remove them. May not be an issue though.

I like the way they look on the inside, but I hate the thought of flying down the high way and a deer or something runs out in front of me and my foot gets hung up the engine guard. There for I am an outie.

Outie. I like to put my heel on the footboard and my toe on the highway peg. I can't do that with an innie on account of the brake pedal.

Seen several inside. With my long legs it wouldn't work. Mine are low and set so I can do like TJay sed. Toe on peg, heel on board. In heavy traffic, I am on the boards. Hiway, in between or looking like that idiot all spread out.

Gets that wind pushing heat away. I have snuggled to the motor on cold mornings.

inside would not work for my long legs and size 12 boots. Outside gives me multiple positions for long days on tour--heels on boards, toes on pegs; soles of feet on pegs; and heels resting on top of pegs (now THAT is sprawling).

To the poster who says he doesn't understand highway pegs, I suggest you try longer rides. It will come to you. The ability to change positions makes long rides possible.
