I just removed the front portion of the bag bar and left the bottom for the bags to rest on. The pins will help keep it lifted also. I went to Westlake and bought some black end caps to cover the holes in end of bottom bar---(at front of bags bottom).
Maybe you can tell by these pics if you blow them up, not sure. One is with stock leather hard bags and other is as it is now with hard abs bags.

Seriously...I have never EVER dropped a Harley. Rice twice, but it was rice so who cared?
IMHO, I don't think RKs look right WITHOUT engine guards; they look too nostalgic to ride without them I DO wish they made the old style Pan & Knuck semi-circle guards for RKs; they would look awesome!

Well, after riding my UC so much, and then hopping on my RK, that bike feels so light and nimble. I have been thinking about removing my engine guard on the King as well.
OK - I'm in love with my bike except for one thing that keeps catching my eye in a bad way.... The engine guard from certain angles just looks wrong... Like a big ugly, disproportionate afterthought stuck on there. I don't use it for anything really (no lowers, rarely use the highway pegs...) so Im thinking of pulling it off but before I do I wouldn't mind seeing any pics you guys might have of your RK's with the guard removed.... Thanks in advance (and yes I know the thing serves a purpose and there's a pretty good chance I'll regret removing it...)
I took off the crash bar and saddlebag guards 18 years ago.
