I've got a 2004 EGC with about 15k miles on her. I'm wanting to upgrade the motor but I'm not sure which way I want to go. I'm not a total muscle freak but would like her to have the the ***** to let loose whenthat wild streak in me say let'er rip. So from reading the posts here for some time nowI know you guys can steer me in the right direction. I don't want to go into a dealer and have them try to talk me into more thanwhat I need or want............so all suggestions are welcome....Oh by the way If you happen to know what it will cost me approx. that would be helpful to......I know prices are differant depending where you are but an "approx" idea would be great
RE: more engine power needed,.....help a brother out!
First you need to decide what you whant out of an upgrade. Do you want to walk away from people in a quarter mile or do you want more low to middle torq for passing and getting down the road andtheir are alot of options in-between.
I went for the later on my 04 Road King Custom. 95CI, 203 Cam, HD High Performance Heads, and SERT. Dynoed out at 92HP and 97LB of Torq. Have put 19,000 miles on it and have never had a problem. The low to middle torq is outstanding and is very usable in everyday riding.
So first decide what you want out of an engine upgrade and then make your phone calls.
Eagle Harley Davidson in Lafayette, IN did my upgrade. They have been doing upgrades on engines ofr years. They also have been drag racing for years with outstanding results. Give them a call if you live in this area. Ask for Dale.

I guess what I'm wanting to have is a bike that when I take off it has the ***** to get me out in front,....I'm not looking for wheelies or anything like that. And also when I'm in heavy traffic on the interstate I want to be able to get out of everyones way. Right now it's stock and it just seems as though when I lay on the throttle it seems to be working to hard.....Hopefully that helps

Look, whatmost everybody wants is 100/100 (or close) with a flat torque curve kicking in from 2500 to redline and nice linear hp development. The guys that want more know exactly what they want.
So how do ya get it?
1. Go with a package of parts that play well together (lots of packages will do the job)
2.A good capable builder (unless you choose to do it yourself)
3. ditto above on the tuner
RE: more engine power needed,.....help a brother out!
Do a lot of research. For example, if you are considering the HD Screamin Eagle stuff, look at page 536 of the 2007P&A catalog where it gives the hp and torque curves for their various kits. Call Doug at Head-Quarters, etc. and see what their comparable kits provide.
The guys with SE stuff have definitely improved the power of their bikes over the bike's stock performance, but the SE stuff compared to reliable kit providers like HQ, GMR, etc. delivers poor value for the performance $$$.
And whatever you build, you will need a good tuner to deliver what the hardware promises.
