The ordering process has begun for my road glide conversion!
I have about $1300 into the conversion + my paint. (Painting it myself) I wanted a RG when I bout the EGC, and have been kicking myself for not holding out. Prior to doing this, I was shopping to trade, and just couldn't justify the low trade in and the inflated pricing of the used RG's. My bike runs well, and is set up for my comfort, so a $1300 expense was worth it thus far. I still did not ride yet to see if I have all done correctly. Hopefully tomorrow after the last piece of the puzzle is put on.
Batwing parts and pieces will be up for sale soon, and that will fund my paint.
Enough was enough, so I just bolted on the lower fairing bracket so I could get a test ride in. Yeah, I'm a happy camper! It feels so light up front, but I am feeling a slight squirmed feel from the front, not to worried about it as my front tire is badly cupped. I have a new tire here, just gotta get it mounted and balanced.
Seeing my bike now completed, and how much I am loving it as is, I am wondering if I shouldn't just paint the inner and outer deep cobalt (I have enough paint on hand) and the 2012 CVO swoop in brilliant silver. I could then use my batwing sale proceeds for a set of new bars and a scoowl. Not real sure yet, but thinking about it.
One thing I've learned is that it's not quite as easy to change shields on an RG as it is on a batwing, tired to put on the new KW and pushed one of those stupid well nuts through, ended up having to pull the outer off to get it back.
Anyway, here are the updated pics

I'd then buy the bars and scowl and run it a season and see if you change your mind on the new paint scheme. Cause you never know...
Already has a cool paint scheme if you ask me.

Yeah those well nuts falling into the fairing. One of the first thing about every new RG'r does. It's like an initiation or something.

If you've ever read a Batwing thread that talks about removing the inner fairing to have it painted, you're already half way there. Once all that is off, it's just attaching a bracket to the frame neck, and then installing a Road Glide inner and outer.
Proper planning is the key to this. The parts list that Steelerdude posted was put together by me, and it's very thorough. If you have any questions, we're all here to help.
The conversion tank is getting more and more crowded!
I too am considering the conversion. I'm starting with a 2011 Ultra Police.
Will this make it even more difficult, or is it the same process?
I am considering buying an OEM takeoff unpainted inner fairing and gauge holder for $450. Is that a good price? My other option is after market. It seems almost double to stay OEM and can't quite justify the extr$$
Thanks in advance!
