Default Road King Plans

I have a friend selling a low mileage '07 Road King Classic. I have a couple of fun bikes, but neither are good for a passenger or touring.

I will likely customize with ape hangers, larger front wheel, lowering paint new fenders, hard bags, etc. It won't be a show bike and will get ridden along with my other bikes, especially when I have a passenger. It won't get a ton miles though.

Should I get the RK Classic and make these mods? Getting a newer, stock model may be more practical and cheaper, but that is not my style.

If the price is right go for it. You could go new but you are still going to have to mod it as well. All depends on the budget new is nice but depends on what you can afford.

Default Go for it!

Go for it! I have a 2000 Road King and couldnt be happier. When solo, I ride without windshield and back rest.....when riding with wifey, I ride with both on. Very versatile bike, plus everyone has a glide.

I always go new when buying a bike. Buying used will allow for more money for mods. But for the Road King I really like the new 2014 Rushmore bikes. Love the quick open latches and such. I dont mind buying new and slowly modifying it. This time around I went with a CVO Onley because it was already done the way I would want it and came with the bigger engine and a ton if other goodies too. Its rare to come across a stock bike thats 90% done like the 14 CVO King was for me. Only thing that sucks is there not a whole lot of room for the fun of mods. Just louder pipes and little things thats it. You will love the K ing tho I can promis you that. Just a great handling bike all around. Especially two up.

I don't think either bike matters. The difference between the RK and Classic is spoke wheels, leather saddle bags and cruise control. You can add a cruise control to the RK anytime, so it just comes down to color.

do it, the road king is nice and versatile, you can add a fairing, add a trunk, I love mine, I can ride it with my solo seat and stripped down, or dress is up with my two up seat, fairing and trunk and do a long trip. and you can get parts anywhere for them !!!! good luck and have fun !!! its only money !! haha
