Default What is a good torx set

As I work on my Ultra Limited I find my current set of torn/star set of tools just do not hold up. They are becoming rounded off and do not provide a good mechanical connection for tightening or loosening and I don't want to round out my fasteners. What is a good brand of tools that hold up and won't round off or break.

Are you looking for screwdriver style, socket style, T-handle, L-shape?

Starting from the top..
SnapOn or Mac/Matco
Stanley/Craftsman/Kobalt/SK
or other brand name tool companies.

What type? I have the 1/4" bit type and the socket drive type. I find use for both styles.
the key is to find the best you can...pro mechanic tools will provide the best quality.
Just remember you don't need to buy the whole tool set...you can spread the cost over purchasing what you need when you need. I have a box full of snapon/Mac/craftmsan/sk...-and most are over 30years old!

I have a well used set of Craftsman torx sockets. Not the "evolve" junk they're selling. I also picked up a set of stanley socket bits once on the road, those are actually pretty good as well but I haven't used them that much.

I replace any torx fastener I can with stainless hex from the hardware store. I would really like to kick the inventor of the torx fastener in the *****. HARD.

EDIT: Got to looking around on sears.com This is a good deal... http://www.sears.com/craftsman-42-pi...1&blockType=G1 Whole set for 10bucks more than the 5 piece 3/8 set.

I got a craftsman set a few years ago. They work fine. The small bits are 1/4" drive and the larger ones are 3/8" drive. Price was reasonable also. Sears will be having a sale over Labor day.

Like the man said above, I bought SnapOn over the years, a few at a time. Best to get longer socket type 3 or 4 inches, they come in real handy. Cheap tools cost more as you replace them, buy good the first time.

I have 30 to 40 year old Craftsman tools, they are great and made in the USA. Todays craftsman tools for the most part are junk.

Be Safe JIM

I use a Kolbalt set from Lowes, lifetime warranty. One breaks or rounds I bring it in and walk out with a new one, hassle free!
