Man, it really sucks that so many RK riders are having issues with any kind of wobble or instability. Your post goaded me into responding. I can set my cruise and literally ride for miles with no hands on the bars on even mildly curving roads, controlling the bike with body language only! In the mountains of N. GA , NC, and SC, where I ride the most, I've never had a wobble and I've cornered every possible curve from sweepers to tight curves with NO problems. I cornered so hard so many times I've began to really lose metal on my foot boards! My '13 RKC is the smoothest ride I've ever had. Can't say that about the '12 Switchback I had.

If I was reading highwayman's post correctly, he was commenting on my post regarding the Vulcan Nomad, and saying how he couldn't take his hands off the bars on his Vulcan without serious wobble. My Vulcan was the same way. There was no way in hell you could ride hands free.

On my RK however, I like you, can set the cruise, lean back and travel down the road without any hands no problem at all. It is a very smooth ride.

Yes, I realize he's was specifically referring to the Kawi, but I was really trying to speak to the RK riders who have expressed their problems and to the fact that I have not experienced the same issues. highwayman's post only provided the stimulus for me to respond, period; but I am responding specifically to the RK handling issues stated on the many preceding posts. Didn't mean to infer any other issues.

Default Wobble

I've encounterd similar problems twice now on two different bikes. First was my 2001 Ultra, only when you back off the throttle at around 30 mph and take my hands off the bars. Wobble like hell, dealer tried to tell me it was my rear shocks. So off to another dealer, where he found the first dealer had not properly balanced the new front tire when he mounted. New balance and problem was gone.

2nd bike was on my 2012 Limited, when it was about a year old. While riding the Diamond back I would get a wobble as I would dive into a cure and even more of a wobble as I would power out of the curve to get ready for the next cure. Only once or twice with a serious wobble. At first I thought maybe warped rotors or rear shock pressure. I adjusted the rear shock pressures from 16lbs up to about 28lbs with no difference. After taking my bike in to the dealer, they found that the "Fall Away" adjustment was required. No problems since the Fall Away adjustment was completed.

Took Bike out this weekend for a quick trip to the mountains. Got two wobbles on way up.. On way back Bike felt unsafe and not under complete control the whole way home. I was in a head wind on way back but not real bad. It scared the carp out of my girl friend. She doesn't want to get back on bike now.
I finally got pissed off enough and called Harley. They said bring the bike down. I took it in today and they checked everything, EVERYTHING. Then they took it for a ride on a freeway sweeper that I told them it happens every time there.
Final answer from Harley, "The bike rides great and that is how these bikes ride!!!"
I could not believe it. I see so many Road Kings on the road and I know it is a popular bike. I have rode Softail all my life and this Road King is not livable. Why in the world would anyone want a wobbly loose bike?
So I am going to try putting the rear stabilizer on and see if I can live with the bike that way.. If not It is gone. I just cant afford the Stabilizer right now.
