Thank you for all the suggestions. I did call the local HD dealer, but they didn't have anything. I searched the HDForums again, and I did find a similar question asked in the past. One of the suggestions was to try a place called "Tandy Leather".
They have a store somewhat close to me. I'm going to take a ride there and see what they have.
Michaels, the arts and crafts store also has packs of snaps, both the male and female parts, complete with the tool to crimp them in place. Like a previous poster noted, all you need to supply is your own hammer and a hard metal surface to back the tool onto.
Why not just go to a cleaners? I've done it for multiple coats/jackets/etc that has zippers or snaps. I don't think the Harley Davidson name on the jacket makes it any different than any other item with snaps that my cleaners has fixed. Where she/cleaners got the zippers or snaps, I have no clue.
As someone mentioned...shoe/boot repair places do this type of stuff also. I guess, having been in the Army, and issued a million things with snaps and zippers, this is just an easy fix for me.
I'm surprised your dealer didn't have anything. Many of the dealers who have a fairly large motor clothes department will have a box of snaps, buttons and zipper pulls.
If you are near a LARGE boat dealership, check with their service department. If they do any type of canvas work they have snaps and the tools on hand. I fix my stuff on a regular basis in our shop.
Yes, my local dealer didn't have anything. But the motor clothes person did call HD to see if they could get the snaps. HD sent them the snaps and she gave them to me for free! She now also has some spares in a box. It seems as though if a jacket is still available, then the local dealer should be able to get the parts (snaps) for it. I was just surprised my jacket was still available since I purchased it about seven years ago.
