What's the deal with the Revtech transmission (6-speed), anyone out there using one?

We don't see any post's here about them. As I compare prices with the others, Revtech is considerably more competitive on price and has a 5-year - 50,000 mile warranty. It also is one of the only trans out therethat comes with an .893 final, I'massuming that isbetter than .86?

There is even a cheaper one out there byAccessories Unlimited, it looks cheap and does not havenearthe warranty.Anyone know anything about that product?

Any of our sponsors sell either product?

I was and still am interested in the Assessories Unlimited six speed, but thought that the 1st gear ratio was to high. It's 3.21 if I remember correctly and five speed HD is 2:92 or there about. Had written it off till a friend informed me he knows someone who installed one in a Heratage and loves it. Said no complains with 1st gear and is going to let my friend take it for a ride soon. So guess I'll get the report. He had his installed at Eastern Performance for $1,700 installed. I've talked with Eastern and they have installed a lot of them including bikes they build for resale.
Also heard bad $hit bout the Rev tech.

Thanks,

Built 3 bikes, all with Rev tech mtrs and trannies.Never had a quality problem with them and the bikes are performing great for their new owners. The trans shifts are click click and positive.Ck out what mtrs and transmissions most of the builders are using for your average build.

Nothing wrong with RevTec, Acc. Unlimited, or Ultima.....as long as your not running HUGE HP.....plenty of them on the road. Bakers are nice but areNOT necessary for everyone....

What about the DD6 from Baker. It is jjust the guts of the trany and not the whole trany, right? I have no real clue, but would be nice to add a 6th gear on long rides. how tuff is the install on this? I have seen that harley also offers a setup with out actually pulling the trany...Anyone know what the best choice would be for ease of installation and price?

When I considered a 6 speed for my big inch motored RK,and after talking to most of the suppliers, they were all honest in saying stay with a five speed. That is not to say that in most situations stock or mildly modified bikes, any ofthe 6 speeds wouldwork just fine.Your choice, good luck.

With almost all of the tran manufacture's it is a slip-in gear set past the 1998 model for the most part. Yes the Baker DD6 is an excellent and best choice and most likely the easiest to install, and if you’re going big horsepower no-doubt the very best hands down. For me I have a simple 95" inch build with no magic in it.

I will be getting a new bike within the next year, so budget and playing with it (learning mechanically) is an issue as I want to do the work myself, this way if I screw it up…I won’t break the bank. I do a lot of Freeway cruising at +80 mph otherwise for most people that don't cruise that fast for long periods at a time it probably is not a good investment. And before someone chimes in...it's not about getting your money back with fuel savings (that will never happen), for me, it's about keeping up with the pact without running out of fuel in-between stops.

I do appreciate everyone's feedback and comments; this has turned into an interesting thread.

I have a 99 model tha has the front wheel speedo input so I am able tochange my pulleys with out affecting my speedo calibration. So I have put a 34 tooth/cog tranny output pully with a 65 tooth/cog rear wheel pulley. I did have to change the belt to a 136 Tooth/cog though also. As for the earlier question on how it shifts. Now that I have replaced my worn out stock shifting shaft with a Jims closer tolerance shaft it is as mention earlier a click away from the next gear. I am pleased with the performance and really like the gearing that makes the gears really wind up some great speeds in each and every gear.
