What's the deal with the Revtech transmission (6-speed), anyone out there using one?
We don't see any post's here about them. As I compare prices with the others, Revtech is considerably more competitive on price and has a 5-year - 50,000 mile warranty. It also is one of the only trans out therethat comes with an .893 final, I'massuming that isbetter than .86?
There is even a cheaper one out there byAccessories Unlimited, it looks cheap and does not havenearthe warranty.Anyone know anything about that product?
careful what you buy....I would reccomend either one of thoses........but that is just my opinion.
I'm confused with what youre saying...did you mean to say Wouldnt reccomend? You are one of the people here that I very much value your input. Perhaps you could shoot me a PM?
Revtech has a bad reputation for motorcycle parts, sort of like Autozone has in Auto parts. I suppose if you dont mind having to tear it down or pay labor for someone else to do it, the price of the revtech tranny is alot cheaper. I'll wait till I can afford a Baker....
I am running one that I have put 6k miles on so far without any problems. I installed it myself for just under a thousand bucks. I had it out the other day to replace the shifting shaft that I should have replaced when I did the tranny and there was not any signs of wear. Baker is a better choice if you are going to build big horse power in my opinion. But then we allknow what opinions are like!I am taking my gearing the oppoisite direction than the rest of the forum by regearing to a 2.94 final drive for longer legs on every gear instead of trying to create a wheely poping dirt bike geared bagger that gets 12 miles to the gallon.
Since you seem to like it. Whats the shift quality like. Same, better, worse than OEM 5 speed. Is it noisier or quieter than the 5 speed. Would you do it agian?? I'd love to get a Baker, but if I spend under a grand it stays off the wifes radar and I don't have to talk her into it.
