Default Fork leak

My 02 bagger e glide has developed a leak on the left fork tube. Supposedly this has a cartridge fork on the left from the factory. I want to eliminate this cartridge. Can I get the dampers and springs basically all the guts from a newer street glide and just drop em in mine and assble

You can see what goes on inside your fork legs by checking one of the on-line parts websites, like this one. Both legs will have oil inside them, to lubricate them while they move, so it sounds as if your left leg has worn it's fork seal. I suspect the damper parts etc in the right leg will also fit the left side.

Several write ups where folks have ditched the cartridge for springs both sides. Most write ups provided the pn#'s needed for say 06 internals.
