Sorry no pics, but ended up buying the gloss black elite breather at my dealer this weekend. Absolutely love it so far, looks great and has a nice roar to it under moderate acceleration. Install was a bit of a chore, didn't realize I would have to prop up the gas tank to access a few bolts

I would be very grateful to the OP if He bought two of these air cleaners and gave me one of them.
Everyone I meet would hear about what a fine fellow the OP is!

I use a heavy breather with the shorter K&N filter. This allows me to put the lowers back on for the winter months.

I put the Harley Heavy Breather (looks similar) works great. Really opens the air flow, when I hit the throttle you can hear it sucking the air in! IMHO it's worth the $$$

Default Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather Elite

I have a 12 SG and am getting some serious oil blow by after putting the SE heavy breather elite on. At the same time I had 583 S&S easy start cams w/new lifters put on along with a fueling high volume oil pump. Anyone else had this happen? Any ideas for a fix?

Exclamation Can you use the Elite with lowers?

I always heard you could not run the Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather Elite with lowers?

It is extremely IMPORTANT to note that there is a difference between the Elite & non Elite Heavy Breather. I have noticed that both breathers are talked about in this thread without specifically noting the difference. This thread is suppose to be about the Elite version!

My bike is completely stock, new and only has 320 miles on it.
I'm already wanting to get louder exhaust but I don't feel I need the power gain of going full stage 1. Yet, I expect that I'll eventually want stage 1.
My dealer told me that I could just add SE slipons for the louder sound and be done.
Or, if I also added the SE air cleaner, to maintain the warrenty I would need to add a tuner too (thus full stage 1) because otherwise it would run too lean and discolor the chrome exhaust, and not be covered by warrenty.
Are they blowing smoke up my a$$?

Depending on the tuner your dealer recommended, it could also void the warranty. The only tuner Harley sells which won't void the warranty, is the Screamin Eagle street performance tuner. FWIW, you have a bike with a pretty good air intake system right from the factory, on 14 and later it's more looks than increased power with Stage 1 air systems. Now if you're going to change cams or perform other engine modifications, you could get an advantage swapping to a better flowing air filter.

Msocko3 - thank you for the info. That's good to know. Yep, you're right, it was the SE tuner they were suggesting
