You do not need to remove the tank. When you bring the wire out from under the side cover at the top toward the tank tie it off there. This will be under the edge of the seat. Then you can route it along up under the edge of the tank toward the front and tie it off at the front of the tank. Take it under the switch cover and bring it out where the rubber is around the bars and up the bars to the PV. Mine has been this way for 1 1/2 years and the wire stays in place.
You will need to remove the switch cover.

Removing the tank is a 5 minute job...

Do it right, once.

I did monitor temps when it was first installed, but now don't. I would like to clean up the bars.....

I leave mine on. I like viewing the live data when I want... dc volts , engine head temps throttle position, yadda, yadda.

But if you want it clean....take it off

Took it off yesterday. I monitored all the temps also but for what, it just made me paranoid at long hot stop and go traffic.. Lol. As for a adjusting stuff on the fly, I wasn't that smart and didn't want to mess anything up. I did leave the wiring under the tank just tucked the end up into the faring.

On a 09 and up it is.

PITA with the cross-overs on the pre-09s.

Unless you time it right and are almost empty.
