Default Kuryakin Power Pod install

I want to install a Kuryakin power port on my '07 FLSTN handlebars to power GPS, charge phone, etc. I've done this before on other bikes, just pulled the power cable under the tank back to the battery. Without removing the tank, I'm hitting some obstruction when I try to push through a fishtape (actually, just a piece of coathanger wire) to pull the cable. Is there anything under there that I should be aware of that is blocking? Looking at the parts book all I see is the rubber tank trim, which it seems I should be able to just push by. Would it be better to just take the tank loose from its mountings?

Default Power Port

I ran mine outside the back bone and held it on with zip ties. I picked up the back of the tank and mounted the power line as high (away from the motor's heat) as I could. It's been working great for about 2 1/2 years now. You could also mount it on top of the back bone under the tank to stay away from the heat.

That's what I've been thinking about doing -- just remove the rear mounting screw, loosen the front bolt, then rotate the tank up a bit so I can see and access the underside.
