Biketronics instructions call for routing the power wire under the tank. I really don't want it close to the heat from the heads. Is it okay if I route the power wire under the tank console? I have plenty of room there, no binding, wire moves freely. Thanks

Id it will slip under the tank without using any force no problem at all.
There's no reason you can't run it under the console, but under the tank is a cleaner looking install. Under the tank is fine. No issues with heat unless the wire is just about touching the heads
Does that quick disconnect stop itself from leaking?
Yes. A little might come out when you disconnect it. Some guys relieve the pressure in the line by pulling the fuel pump fuse and starting the bike until it runs out of gas.
Try and get the tank pretty empty before you pull it. The heavier it is, the better chance you have of dropping it.
