What Tuner?
I did dynojet from Fuel Moto on my last FL ('08 FLTUC 96 C.I.) and was never happy with the set-up. To start with, it takes a lot of physical space. It is an add-on to the existing ECM. Always concerned about repair on the road. Costs extra for closed-loop system. Never really got it dialed in.
This time around, I went with the SERT and could not be happier. No added hardware. Started with an H-D map that was close and did two rounds of smart tuning, driving around local roads for data gathering. The results are amazing and the smart tune really does make accurate adjustments to the base map. Learning curve was a bit steep for me, but it seems pretty logical now. Offers complete control over all engine parameters. And, it reads codes and allows you to "see inside" the motor.
The only glitch in going this route is that Fuel Moto will not offer a starting map for their products when using the SERT. This is inconvenient and makes the task more difficult than it, otherwise, might be. I got the impression, talking to their support techs, that there were copyright and/or EPA issues involved and that they were happy to steer well-clear of the MOCO. At least they could point customers to a solution somewhere in the ether (i.e. another customer or forum or a best-guess H-D map).
Anyway, Jackpot hardware and SERT software makes for a clean, efficient, effective way to move more air through the pump. The bike runs very strong and does not misbehave. Me like.
