To me...only one guy's opinion...what the OP is proposing is pricey, with the benefits not matching the price he's gonna pay. If what he's looking for is a higher fifth gear, there are less expensive ways to do it that will make good sense compared to money outlay.
But it's his money...if he wants to drop a coupla three grand into a ten year old machine, fine.
To the op, I did the Baker 6 on my '03 ultra last year and couldn't be happier. A little spendy but we'll worth it. Just remember with a gearing change, regardless which gears or pullies you change, you have reduced your effective trans gearing to 4 with o.d. 6 speed gives you 5 with o.d. Although the baker worked well with my tweaked 95", I did it knowing I was going Jim's 120" this year. What a drive train, ear to ear grins.

This isn't true. No matter what you do the 5 spd will be 1.000 or direct drive in 5th. The current 6 spd that comes stock in late models is DD or 1.000 in 6th. I you change the gearing on a 5 spd to 34t / 68t you get an overall drive ratio in first of 9.245 and in 5th 2.880. On a late model 6 spd the odr in 1st is 9.594 and in 6th 2.875, almost no different than the re-geared 5 spd. Gearing higher also increases the spacing between gears. Neither of these trannies will ever be an OD. By installing the 120" you increased your engine torque to make the 2.709 6th gear OD useable, but you have dropped $10-12K on your bike, not that that is a bad thing, but some are not able or don't want to do that.
I just gotta ask why?
Unless your a x-way queen thinking you have to wrap up 600 mile days to pretend your having fun then I guess it might, just might be worth throwing that kind of money into an old bike that you will never recover the money from.
How many guys buy a new 2014 bike and spend $$$ having Timkin bearings installed in the motor and have the flywheels trued?
I like the acceleration of my cop bike with Andrews 21 cams and when I get the funds I'll install a Baker OD6. I'm always looking for another gear, OD will be no problem with this cam and gearing.
That's normal and no reason to buy an extra one! I've owned bikes with 3, 4, 5 and 6 speeds and looked for an extra gear on every one. Means nothing more than you've forgotten what gear you're in!
I'm using a Baker DD6 in my super glide. It is so much smother shifting than the hd it is unreal. Falls into neutral easily. The closer spacing in the transmission made the bike pull so much better. The first 3 gears are lower than the hd is but 6th is the same as a hd transmission. In the long run I think it is worth it's price. It is a investment not a cost to me.

Graham you can do what you like as can I. I don't like my engine revving so high on the freeway for no reason. Cruising at 3000 rpm would be nice along with effortless acceleration fully loaded with my gf.
