Default Gallon plastic bags to pack clothes idea. Thank you!!!

Hey everyone. A simple thank you to whoever it was that recommended this in something I read here some where. Don't spend near as much time here as I used to but glad to see many familiar names still around. Try the gallon zip lock bag thing!! It is a great organization-space saving idea.

I also use the 2.5 gallon zip locks.

Default Space bags to compression bags

I initially used space bags that could be rolled up to deflate the air, now I have replaced all of those with compression bags. They work better and hold up very well. You can find them on clearance frequently. I was able to put 3 days of clothes into a space 6x6x8in and I'm not a small man.

I have two sets of the HD bags but use a straight up Walmart plastic bag most of the time; however, I might try out a compression bag so it will look a little less getto when I walk my clothes to the hotel or a friends house lol.

I just got a 12 volt air mattress pump that also has the vacuum side with the same fitting. It works on the vacuum bags to compress them smaller. The space it saves makes up for the space it takes up.

When packing for a Western Trip, 5.5 K +I pack as follows. First I take enough under wear, socks, t shirts to get me to my destination where I will wash all clothes at that point, usually 7 days. Before leaving home I open each t shirt, lay a pair of socks and a pair shorts neatly folded on the open t shirt. Then fold sleeves of t shirt over and start a tight rolling of all three into a tight round roll for packing into a T Bag etc. They take up a lot less space that way. Two pair Levi's, wear one and fold other pair flat to fit in bottom of luggage. At destination repeat for trip home. Jackets, leathers etc go in saddlebags or tour pack.

I use those bags when packing for airline trips as well. Ever since I had a airline leave my bags on the runway in a thunderstorm until they had filled with water.

I pack one shirt, pair of underwear, and pair of socks in each bag one for each day of the trip. When I get to the motel just grab a bag from my saddle bag and I have a clean set. I take my olddest socks and underwear that are ready to be retired. When they come off at night they just go in the trash.

I've always used Walmart plastic shopping bags. They compress and slip into the saddle bag and space usage in the saddle bag approaches 90%+ efficiency. No space is lost. Organize how they go into the saddle bag so when you arrive at a hotel that night out comes what you need and you're good to go. Don't care what someone thinks of my Walmart luggage. It works and it absolutely maximizes space efficiency in the bike.
