Default Replacement Shocks

I was thinking about replacing the airshocks on my 2012 Limited. I have to keep them pumped to 50# or the ride is too harsh for my passenger. Are there any non air replacement shocks that work better and if so what do you suggest?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Shocks are a regular subject in here, there are plenty of threads if you use 'search' and take a look at recent ones. You will soon see that very few members mention riding with a passenger, so they can be filtered out, which makes reading easier. If you both want a quick result and a top quality ride, simply call Howard at HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal.

I have Progressive 440's on my 03. coil over design, crank down the collar when 2 up, back it off for solo riding.

to really get full benefit out of them upgrade the fork internals too

Try changing the oil in your shocks first. I pulled the 5wt oil out and replaced mine with a half and half blend of 10wt and 15wt and was very pleased. You may very well get the ride your lookin for without having to spend all that coin. If that doesn't work for you then I second grbrown and his recommendation.

2010 Limited with some stuff

Nearly as many opinions as users here.

You and your rider's weight factor in.

I'm 280, and with the OL on, we never bottomed with 40# in the air shocks, but I changed to the Harley Premium Hand Adjustable shocks anyway.

Look here for the best.

The cost is higher than most want to pay. Howard takes an off the shelf shock and fixes the internals and spring to fit your bike and added weight.
Less costly options off the shelf appear to work for many. Keep in mind that seldom do you see one of these shocks from Howard on the resale market but people do sell any of the other popular shocks. If you can afford it, buy once

I upgraded the stock air shocks on my 12 Street Glide to the Harley Premium Hand adjustable ones, and the difference is significant. Smoother and more controlled ride, and have not bottomed out since installing them. Insead of pumping up the air, they have a **** to turn to easily adjust for different weights.

If you want to go further, then a call to Motorcycle metal is in order. Cost more, but when you buy the shocks, you get Howard thrown in for free. He is well versed in listening to what you are trying to accomplish, and giving you all the options for price/value upgrades.

Which length shock did you use on your Street Glide? 12" or 13" Stock is 12", can you use 13'?

Yes, you can use 13"

ALL of the touring bikes have the SAME chassis, with different crap.

RG, SG, RK, UC and UL are ALL the same when you take off the fairing and tourpak.. Sure, some of the fenders have holes in different spots for different light set ups, but that's just tin.
