Replacement Shocks
Has anyone changed out 13" airs to 12" adjustable and been unhappy with ride quality? Dont want to goto Progressives 94x. Rarely load up the tour pacs but do plenty of 2 up riding and need less harsh ride.
Very happy with the Ohlins S36e on my 2013 Limited.
They may not be the best but well worth the $555 dollars. Purchased mine from Fuel Moto.
I will be replacing my fronts with the FKC 101 kit from Ohlins this winter.

Very happy with the ride now.
The 13" version will raise the Street Glide up slightly, but you would have to park a stock bike next to it to see the difference.
To me, the ride was more important than the lowered look.
I ride 2-up 98% of the time, and the Premium Hand Adjustable shocks are a huge improvement over the factory air shocks.
Of course, you can probably get an even better ride if you wanted to spend a good deal more for something like the Ohlins.
Put a set of Progressive 944's on my '12 Limited and am very happy with the big improvement. Ordered with HD spring at first but that was way too harsh even with bike loaded up and my 240 lbs. Progressive changed them n/c to standard spring and all is well. Great ride and bike sits a touch lower. Here's a link:

The actual length of the touring shock is 12 3/4". Street Glide is 12".
Only 3/4" difference. Believe the ride to be the same, however Street Glide shock will bottom out more often. Only 3/8th" difference on the stroke for compression or rebound.
Lowered shocks look better, and are easier to get your feet down. Make your bike easier to move around in the garage and when parking.
Taller shocks give a bit more travel and will bottom out less.
Believe the spring tension and shock internals are the same for both shocks (might be wrong, but pretty sure)
Difference in going to Premium hand adjustable is far greater than changing the shock length.

Shocks are a regular subject in here, there are plenty of threads if you use 'search' and take a look at recent ones. You will soon see that very few members mention riding with a passenger, so they can be filtered out, which makes reading easier. If you both want a quick result and a top quality ride, simply call Howard at HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal.
This would be the Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth. Or you could just ignore this advice if your not serious. By the way my #3-3 Ohlin's ride even better with my wife on the back. No adjustments necessary from single to 2 up.
