Yes they are delicious. Hunted them all the time a few years back. Guess its time to get back to it. Went out to the crash site today to try and find some missing things. Wouldn't you know it they mowed the ditch today, and probably my missing parts too. Seen how far from the impact area I ended up and feel real fortunate I'm here to tell about it. Haul or limp the bike in tomorrow or next day for the estimate process to start.
Welcome to the club. Glad you weren't hurt more seriously. I hit one back on July 25th on Blue Ridge Parkway. She caused me to veer into trees. Had to be helicopter medivac to Asheville. 11 broken ribs, collapsed & punctured lung, separated shoulder, broken leg & had to have part of my colon removed. All because of a ****ing deer. Road King totaled.
Haven't been back to work yet. Ride safe all of y'all. SCAN that woodline please!
Live in a helmet required state and glad I had one on. DOT half helmet that did its job. Scraped up in several places but not crushed or broken anywhere.
Glad you're not seriously hurt. Deer populations are becoming a problem in my area too. Not enough hunters in the woods anymore and the herds just keep getting bigger.
Glad you are ok. The bike is replaceable. You are not.
I'm a new RGS owner because I hit a deer last June. Totaled the old bike and nearly totaled me. But I'm doing way better than the damn deer.
QUESTION FOR EVERYONE THAT HAS / HAS NOT HIT DEER;
Did you have any 'deer whistles' on your bike? I've noticed that all of the LEOs have them on their bikes. Maybe they work?
BTW; Your helmet is covered under your insurance and will be replaced by them. Now if only they would cover the leathers that the EMTs cut off of me...
