JUST MY OPINION> Do I misunderstand that you did not fix bike. You knew there was a hidden problem and passed it on to someone who may not realize it till he or her tears up the primary chain and sprockets and could have an accident. For $70 bad Karma comes around. You needed to pass that on when you sold bike. Should be ashamed of yourself. Wonder if the chain jams and they have a terrible accident. You need to retract this sale and track the bike down and throw all the old or new part in.

This is a great price for this. I just installed mine and its a huge improvement from the stock one that does not release the tension. A primary chain that is way to tight will cause pre-mature damage and robs power. And this also made the wine from the primary chain completely disappear.

I contacted SOHB about whether this was the new style or the old style and it looks like it's the old style with the difference being the oil hole is on the side of the aluminum wedge of the new style. Apparently they've only had a couple come back (of the old style) and will exchange them if someone is uncomfortable with the older one for any reason. The guy said to just set it up a little loose at first and it will be ok. Make sure there's oil on the shaft the wedge rides on and sand it a little if it feels sticky. I'd have no problem putting it on my bike personally but in the interest of full disclosure I wanted to make sure. Faast Ed says he put a spring on the shaft (from Ace Hardware) and it works fine.

It's been working great for almost a year now.
But it was binding up in the loose position prior to adding this spring.
I like it better than the stock tensioner for sure!
