Does anyone know what the differences are between the '14 TG forks and the other '14 FLH touring bikes?
Like others, I am thinking about doing the chrome lower forks and when I do, would like to change the innards to a cartridge system like I installed on my Ultra.
Progressive is making them for the FLH (SG, UC, EC) but says they won't fit a TG. Just on outside appearance, without measuring or anything, the TG and Ultra forks look the same.
The trike forks a a little longer do to the different rake on the triple tree they are also drilled differently because the trike uses different brake callipers. Also if you are thinking of adding the smooth ended axles that are available for the touring bikes they will not work on the trike because the trike axle is different. It has the same diameter but it needs to be beefier due to the extra torque that is applied to the front axle of the trike when turning.
There is a Stock Harley Take Offs section in the Harley Davidson Classified section of this website, maybe you could sell the old ones. Someone may have a worn or boogered-up set that they may want to replace, and help you pay for the chrome ones. Just a thought.
