While on a trip to Mackinaw Island this week I was letting trike back down a small grade in a parking lot .the engine was off , in netrual and I heard a loud pop it does it every time I back the trike up running or off makes no difference It pops everytime it makes a belt rotation does fine going forward drove it over 1000 miles back home without having to backup but it still has the pop when I backup ...any help with the problem solving would be a great help .Thanks
Does it only do it when you apply some rear brake? I was getting a bad noise when letting mine roll back, either free wheeling or in reverse. It was a rear rotor that was hanging up. Mechanic just had to clean the mounting pins up and lube it a little and problem solved.
the sprocket the belt runs on has ALOT of side to side play in it . I guess I will tear it down and see if the isolation bushings have come out . Not looking forward to this job any tips to ease the pain is accepted.

Last summer, the bearing in the sprocket failed on my 2012 triglide. A symptom of the failure was excessive side play in the sprocket, and when I put a pry bar to it, there was a lot of up and down movement also. As a direct result of this bearing failure, I lost the bearing fit on my differential. To fix it, I had to pull the body, pull the axles out, remove the rear end, buy all the bearings and seals, a new rear sprocket, and a new differential. I did all the work myself and saved a bundle of labor costs.
I believe that the cause of all the problems was that the $1.00 snap ring that retained the sprocket broke and everything else was a chain reaction to that failure.
