Default Gutted headers....

I bought a gutted exhaust header off a 15 Street Glide to install
on my 12 TG. Just learned the TG headers come with an extended
tube on the right side. My question is do I need the Vance&Hines
extensions to complete the install on the TG? ..thanks for any input.

Nope. The stock one will fit.

If the part number is 66855-10A, the extension should be built onto the pipe. Not sure what your '12 part number is off hand. If I remember right, the earlier ones had a separate extension added on and the head pipe output was shorter. Don't quote me on that though. Mine is a '15.

my 15 tri-glide has an separate extension that comes off. it's looks as 12 header would go right on.

I too bought a catless header online coming from a HD Touring bike for my 2013 TG. I don't know what year it was, but what I do know is that it was too short on the right side and I need the extended tube. Because I had already taken the stock header off the trike when I realized the new one wouldn't fit and rather than ordering it, I decided to gut my Triglide header. A friend of mine who had the proper welding equipment did it the next day.
I'm pretty sure you'll need the extended tube if you go this route, unless you do what I ended up doing and gut your stock header.
Good luck!

Sounds like Harley does what Jeep used to do. My 15 does not have the separate extension. Jeep used to mix and match during the CJ and YJ years too. Made life interesting.
