I use it all the time, and don't care if it breaks. In fact, that would be good . . . before the extended warranty expires, that is. After 2012 I'll probably change my mind!

Ours went out on our '15 at about 15,000 miles. Went to get it replaced on ESP. The shop naturally said it had to be diagnosed first, or ESP wouldn't pay. (my armature was burnt up like I told them)
Harley sends the dealers what they call an "electronics repair kit". Part number 31400129. Our invoice says $314.20
It is a kit with new armature, brushes, coils, bearings, basically everything but the hard case on the outside. They told me they greased the planetary, put the kit in there, and they put a boot cover over the battery connection.
Works fine now, just thought I'd let you guys know the kit is out there and available. They told me a new motor was upwards of $1500.00

OKay,
I have a blinking "R". I was trying to back the trike up a ramp and just near the top, reverse quit. When I tap the button, I hear the solenoid click but no reverse. The R just blinks.

I don't think the reverse is made to back UP anything. Maybe you tripped the breaker?
