Default New 8 on seat...

Thoughts every rider has experienced... Mine just happened to be twice in so many weeks by caged idiots...

(8/14)
"OK, there's a car over in that gravel parking lot..."
"OK, I'm pretty sure they hear me coming at 50MPH..."
"OK, I've downshifted, now I know they can hear me..."
"OK, now they have looked at me and seen me coming..."
"OK, we have made eye contact with each other... there is no way they are gonna pull out in front of me..."
"F-me-running they're spraying gravel and turning out in front of me!"
Lock-up, on-coming traffic, or ditch, oh my...

(8/28 - post Cat-delete and SVT Boneshakers install)
"OK, bike sounds awesome..."
"OK, I see people (obviously) stopping instead of rolling through intersections because they definitely hear me coming..."
"OK, holy crap the bike sounds awesome..."
"OK, two-lane highway, plenty of space in front and behind me 55MPH and 2800RPM..."
"F-me-running, that guy came from out of nowhere clutch-side, passing me on a double yellow in an E-Musk-mobile..."

Anyone know how to repair a freshly cut 8 on a factory seat?

Ride safe everyone... especially in Westfield, IN

-John

I'm a firm believer that bright lights are 100x better than pipes.

But if they made eye contact and still did it. Nothing was helping.

The speed of light in MPH is 670,616,629 mph,
The speed of sound is 767.269148 mph.

Careless Cagers are getting more and more pervasive on the streets!

SEE & BE SEEN is why I use LED's, and a LOT of them!

But it does not replace defensive riding. I ride like they're all out to get me.

Glad you escaped bodily injury John.

What I am reminded of from your incidents is:

Our sound is behind us! Folks in a closed vehicle ( windows up, radio on, kids yelling, do not hear us. And they may even be deaf.

Eye contact at 55mph is difficult to determine, looking in your direction means nothing more than that. Seeing is another matter.

What I did not hear (maybe just not spoken above):

I slowed down.
I covered my brakes and clutch.
I moved side to side in my lane giving more visual cues.
Loud pipes help in slow moving congested traffic maybe, at least I think they do as sound bounces off other vehicles.
I never assume, it just isn’t safe to do on a bike.
Watch the front tire for movement, not rear as it saves time seeing movement.
Slow down, scrub speed, downshifting only affects those behind you and pedestrians.

lastly ... easier to replace underwear than a stock seat.

Valid points on all additions... what was "not spoken" was between the lines
