Default Lehman and the Triglide

I just noticed on the Lehman site that they won't be assembling the triglide's for the 2011 models. HD is assembling them in york, Pa. Good or bad, who knows.

If they are not dropping the Tri altogether! I did not know Harley was into fiberglass? I know they surpassed the 2500 units for 09 and seem to be doing well with the 10's, will be interesting to see if they are any changes to the 11's.

Having just bypassed the Shelbyville Ky. plant after bluffing their way into some union concessions at York Pa. They may run them at York a year or two before they take them to India! I hear they sold half of the plant,"according to another thread this forum". Hard to see how they are going to build that Trike on the Softail line?

From some of the issues we found on the front half ( major bolts basically hand tight ) of my Tri Glide I'm not too sure there isn't a quality issue at the York plant.

Its bad enough that a good many of the parts are made in other countries. I won't buy a Harley that is assembled in India or any other foreign country.

It's all about harley keeping the larger portion of the pie. They've got the facility & manpower, now they've aquired the knowledge. Economically it's a good business move to do everything they can in-house. As far as out-sourced parts, they're always going to come from the cheapest supplier, stateside or other.

It's not just the TG that has loose bolts from the factory. The York workers are disgruntled and don't give a crap about their assembly techniques right now.

I just purchased a 2010 SESG built in York. From another forum I found the hydraulic clutch may have air in the lines causing the clutch to creep. Before taking delivery I had the dealer check it, yes, it was full of air. When I rode her home, the right hand floorboard fell off. The dealership will tell you that was not part of their responsibility to check.

A few weeks later I purchased a 2010 SE Convertible for my wife. Before taking delivery I told them to bleed the clutch and check all bolt specs. No way am I putting her on that bike if it will leave a trail of nuts and bolts behind her. They did and it was amazing what they found.

Good luck all you future TG'rs. Suggest doing what I did... have your dealer check all torque specs then for drive-ability before taking delivery. No, I don't have an issue with the TG, I like it very much, just saying...
