Mine is so close and I think the weight differance is a factor. I weigh 290 and the ol lady 140 something and can really tell the difference when riding two up. When I'm on by myself it is a kick to ride and performs well enough. That 2011 primary gear would have made me a happy camper, the Tri rides cool and does not run hot now. Since the temps have moderated I run 190-200 for short hops and have not seen it over 230 on long hard rides. The EITMS does not and has not kicked in all summer, when riding.
Three years into the model run and HD makes an important improvement, just sick of spending money on reengineering that should have been on the 09. I hear most 11 owners are satisfied with the performance so it had to be the gear change.
HD should make the 11 gearing retro fit available at a reduced cost at least for the 09-10 Tri owners. It was a mistake for HD to engineer on feedback and not had these problems solved by at least the 10 model.
Last mistake I will make when purchasing a Harley davidson because I won't be buying anymore.
I got rid of my 09 Tri-Glide for these very same reasons. What really pisses me off though is there is no way to contact the MOCO (email or website) and complain. I called the customer service line more times than I could shake a stick at and they gave me no joy and definitely no feedback on anything I had to say. I spent over 80K on two TG's and they wouldn't give me the time of day. So, when my new Deluxe wears out I'll just replace the engine rather than spend a dime with a MOCO that doesn't give a crap about their customers. I've been riding Harleys since 1978 and this is the first time in my life I've ever regretted that decision (Are you watching/listening ***** G?)..
Here is a portion of the response I rec'd. from the owner of HD Erie.
Also, Im not sure how any of the enhancements you listed to get a ride that is not uncomfortable would void the warranty on your motorcycle, but if you are uncertain please bring your Tri-Glide back to our dealership and one of our certified service technicians will be happy to check your bike over and explain your options this is covered under your warranty.

They may or may not warranty it if they do the work. It's a crap shoot.

Thats the whole point in beta testing, let the end user find the defects and inform you of them so they can be rectified the next MY. I just didn't realize we where signing up as beta testers, I do now and I'm with you and will not make the same mistake twice.
