Default Thanks to all!!

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that have helped out and for the opinions and direction. I did not really want to get into specific names, but really enjoy chatting with you all and hope that sooner or later I'll get this new bike back from the dealer and down the road. I'm sure that nothing is impossible long as we are here to help each other.

I have alot of experience wrenching since 1967, but the new electronic gizmo's are beyond my expertise. Many of you have much more in the way of knowledge about these trikes and the twin cam engine that can be very helpful. Again, I appreciate all of the input. Now if we can just get that damn Pingel electric shifter to work. Somehow I have to teach wifey how to ride her in case we get stuck again.

Anyone that needs a flattie, shovel or EVO rebuilt, I can help with that, otherwise I'm finding out that I'm lost with radio programming, cruise controls and so forth. Jeez, I even have to learn how to use directional signals again!

Thanks again to all of you who have contibuted.
Buddy.....

There is a lot of smart people here ( not me...) sure is nice to pick their brains...

I have a friend that rides a GW trike and has no legs...he uses a electric shifter. I can put you in contact with him if you think it'll help...he's a god guy.

Default shifter conversion

Hey Buddy WMC I am in the same boat as you. I have a right foot mechanical shifter bolts to tranny and engine upper two bolts double linkage on left side and shifter on right. being an older mechanic shouldn't be to hard for you to fabricate. I have used on two different trikes for combination of 10 years and had no trouble at all. I don't trust them electric gismos.

+1 for mechanical over electrical for that application. If you break down on a trip the mechanical would be easier to fix over electrical.

Casper,
There is a Pingel electric shifter on mine. Took a dump after 56 miles and would not shift. Nursed her home in low gear. The Dealer picker her up on Tuesday and shipped the parts back to Pingel. Probably be next week or later before I know what happened and the parts are replaced. That's why I'm looking to go mechanical as a full time or backup solution.

Bullet,
If you could e-mail or PM me some pics of your setup it might help to figure something out. Thought about removing the lowers and crashbar and running something off the frame with a crossshaft like I have on my FXLR. I'm not that computer literate and somehow can't post photos either on this site or HTT.

Buddy don't put on front will cause shift pattern to be opposite. thats why I used tran to engine bolts the linkage will hook up and be normal pattern. I will try to send diagram I think you will like this set up over electric. I am away now but will get back as soon as I get home.

Thanks Bud, I'll be looking forward to see how you did it. We do have a local machine shop with a plasma cutter and so forth and I have an outlet for materials. Problem is the machine shop is expensive, but they do good work. I have access to a Bridgeport mill and lathe if that will help fab this up.
