I just ordered the fairing mount oil temp gauge kit - 70900283. Does anybody have install instructions you can post here? I'd love to get an early look before it comes in. Thanks!
(1) You do not have to drain the oil in order to install the sensor plug. Just have your sensor ready to go before removing the drain plug from the pan. Remove the plug and cover the hole with your finger, Grab your sensor with your free hand and do the install. You shouldn't lose more than a tablespoon or so of oil.
(2) I did not use the metal mount bracket that came with the new gage. I used the plastic bracket that was used to install the air temperature gage instead. I just found it easier to manipulate inside of that cramped space.
(3) You might consider removing the radio. It will be much easier to access the terminals on the oil temp gage and install the nuts. You will want to use ball-end allen wrenches to access the radio mount screws.
Better place to install the temp senor is in the return line coming from the oil cooler. It will tell you how well you cooler is working. The oil temp in the tank is affected by the heat from the transmission as it gets hot it will raise the oil temp

i installed an otg on my 09 street glide last week,the newer kit is plug and play,if u can find your 107 connector(air temp sensor) mine is located at left front of frame just under fairing,thats where you plug oil temp sensor wiring harness into air temp sensor harness,then swap the gauges out,and install oil temp sensor in oil pan plug beside oil drain plug.......you shouldn't have to cut any wires.....good luck....

Thats nice you dont have to mess with splicing/cutting wires now.
If you remove the inner faring brace (two nuts, bolts, or srewws) cant remember which, on the left side, its the one in the way, you can get at the gage easy, I found it way easier than removing the radio.
could some one help me find that 107 connector for air temp sensor. I was installing the OTG and could not find the 107 connector so part it back in box, was going to take it back, but if I can locate the 107. I'll try again if someone could help a little more with a picture or more instructions.
It's a tiny black box a little bigger than your thumbnail that is attached to the left side if the steering head. It'll have a small plug with 2 wires coming from up under the fairing down to it. You'll need a flashlight to find it probably. The steering head is black and so is the box so it blends in. Hope that helps.
Said this on another board, you will be sorry you added that gage, I am. I spend most of my ride with one eye on the scenery, the other on the Oil Temp. Not like there is anything I can do about it, and in the 3 years I've had it the oil only got hot 1 time when I was stuck in traffic, and again, there was nothing short of turning the bike off I could do.
