Default Newbie help - crank but no start

Purchased a bike thats been sitting for awhile and found out the tank had garbage build up. Bike is an 09 rocker c with literally 500 miles stock besides a stage 1. Took the tank off cleaned it and flushed all the crap out. Installed new pump, filter, strainer, regulator, check valve, injectors, plugs and wires. Put fresh gas then cranked the bike over to were I killed the battery twice. There was 3 CEL codes that came on but deleted them and never came back. At times it would fire for a moment then die out few seconds later. Times when it would start and idle but would misfire, cough thru the intake and backfire before cutting out. I tried looking for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold by spraying brake clean and no sudden high idle. Im at a dead end at this point and dont want to bring it over to a shop which would cost me arm and a leg maybe all limbs. A friend of mine said that it may be the ignition coil so I ohm’d it and came back with 0.2 of resistance, manual says 0.5. Ill be ordering one soon but looking for opinions and help to point me in the right direction so I dont start swapping parts I dont need to.

Start with the simple stuff first. Run a Diagnostic Error Scan. Write down the error codes and look them up. Much better than just throwing parts and $$$$ at it at random.

Sounds like it's still not getting fuel. Either you have a fuel pressure problem or the injectors are plugged. Both issues may not throw any codes.

Thanks guys. How likely would it be the ignition coil itself? Is it possible to do a fuel pressure test even though I cant get it to idle?

I took down the codes and deleted them soon after but never came back. 0122 = tps low, 0131 and 0151 = o2 sensors lean. Would these still be a problem although they haven’t popped back up?

Yes, Simply turning on the ignition / run stop switch the fuel system should pressurize and hold.

Gotcha, Ill try that. So if the pressure is not within 55-60 psi it could be the fuel system?

Yes. The pump runs for about 4 seconds which should be enough for the system to pressurize. When it stops the pressure might drop a couple PSI but it should hold.

I'm curious, what tuner is being used for the stage 1? I do agree with Max on the injectors possibly being clogged. How long did the bike sit without running?

Ride safe!
