Default Lifters 2000 Ultra Classic

I removed my lifters to replace my timing chain tensioners, and when I went to put the lifters back in the outer lifters on both the front and rear cylinders would not fit. When I put my finger down the lifter bore I can feel a ridge or burr on the outermost side for both the front and rear cylinder. This is really confusing because all the lifters slid right out for both the front and back cylinder without any effort. Has anyone had this problem before? Honing the lifter bores is not in the manual but is that typically done? Does anyone sell a honing kit for the lifter bore?

Are you putting the lifters back into the same holes they came out of?

Or did you take them out and not mark which hole they were removed from?

Did you remove the cam plate?

When you removed the cam plate cover and put back it on you might have used the the longer cover screws on the cam support screws, if you did you probably dimpled the lifter bore holes. Something to check

yes, I marked them and put them in the same holes that they came out of

regarding the longer screws, that actually makes sense because the lifters came out so easy

I guess I need a hone out the lifter bore to fix, has anyone ever done that before?
