Exhaust flange nuts. '03 Wide Glide with SE slip-ons, to be replaced with full system. I'm sure the original head pipes have been on for 20 years, and the top flange nut on the front jug barely moves. Soaked it, heated it, and a loud squeak as it moves fractionally. About an 1/8" turn right and then loose. Not making progress. I anticipated the it would break free by now. I scored the end of the post so I can see if it's moving and it hasn't. The nut has moved just a touch. Have it another soaking with PB Blaster, gonna try again tomorrow.
Afraid I'm gonna snap the post! What works for everyone else?
Try using Automotive Automatic Transmission fluid.
The ATF seems to work better at dissolving stuff like rust and road goo and does not damage paint.
Use a little squirt bottle, dropper, sprayer or whatever to get ATF into that area. Keep in mind that if ONE flange nut has already been removed then entire exhaust unit might be applying pressure on that one remaining bolt.
Note: Sometimes you need to lubricate the other exhaust flange nut and put it back on to relieve that pressure.
