I'm considering a V-Rod but my body type can't handle the stock ergonomics. First, I'll have to have the seat remade. There is an upholstery guy I use (he rides a softtail and knows his stuff) and he'd add a few inches of foam to the seat and fabricate a new cover. (That, to accommodate my 37 inch inseam.)
Next will be to add a couple of inches of height to the handlebars.
Finally is to move the foot controls back to mid location. Harley sells this mid kit on their web site. I have lower back problems and need to be able to use my legs as "shock absorbers." So to speak.
Unless you are in love with the Muscle look, For what you are wanting to do, you would be better off starting with night rod (not a "special")
It already has mid controls, it is easier to change out the handle bars to something that will fit you and there are more seat options.
To put mid controls on a muscle, you will also need to change the exhaust, RT motor mount and a few other minor things...
The VRod Muscle does not have the typical handle bar like the rest of them...it is a cast, bolt on assembly. There are risers out there for them, just not the normal kind you would expect.
