Default v rod oil problem please help!!

I recently bought a 2014 night rod, from a dealer which I will not name at this point, because they are being helpful to this point as far as I can tell.
however , a couple days after having the bike I noticed some oil leaking between the cyilnders and wicking down across the rear base gasket making it look like a bad or improperly touqued gasket. long story short I done some research , and the mechanic confirmed one of my two suspicions . it was leaking from the breather system . they are in the process of fixing it, but my concern is this. the bike lost around half a quart of oil or more in 1000 miles . this does not seem normal for that much oil to be circulating through a breather or vent system. ??? any insight would be helpful. thanks.

How many miles on your bike?..I have a 16 muscle...I understand it will burn oil up until 5K. I got the 1K service in Feb. 1K miles later in April, I put almost a quart in. I do not have any leaks...

Mine burned oil if I lugged the engine too much. Those are high reving engines and aren't meant to be ran at 1500-2k rpm's.
