There is no need to change the belt. They do not deteriorate like rubber.
I also doubt that any seals are bad. Just ride it around the block a few times for about 50 miles at 30 mph. That way issues should reveal themselves if any.
No need to immediately tear into it. I have several much older low mileage bikes over the years in my collection and never had to do anything. I have a 80, 87, 99, 2000 and a 2003 with all original belts, tire, seals or whatever. Only recently did the brake fluid.
That is a good price and you did fine. Enjoy!

That's more than I would pay for an 03. That model has the small gas tank which is a minus IMHO. Besides, I've seen pretty low mileage 03s around here for $4-5k that have perf exhaust, tuners, etc already installed.
I'm seriously considering going back to a vrod and if I do it will be an 07 or later which has the bigger fuel tank and slightly larger engine.

If I ever wanted to buy a V-Rod to actually ride again, then yeah I’d want a later one with the 1250cc, bigger tank, and so on.

I don't know how discontinuing them is going to affect them over the long term. Parts/accessories and good vrod techs have not been plentiful(in my experience)over the years so now that will become even more of an issue.
Bottom line, if you like it buy it, they are extremely fun to ride.
