Going for a carbon cleanup on the 2009 AW with the slight misfire. Using injector cleaner. Engine is smoothing out.
Kinghslide, what do you mean by false air?

False air is air being induced B4 it goes through the monitoring system . Be it carburation or EFI.
A lot of times it is called vacume leaks .
It makes for a lean system.
EFI will try to compensate for it (on some systems)
Update on the VRSCAW misfire. Installed new HD spark plugs, properly gapped. Littler or no improvement.
Ran two bottles of injector cleaner through. Little or no improvement.
Visited my other HD dealer [Jamestown NY] They seemed very knowledgable and willing to spend time going over the details.
First plan:
I have a pair of OEM slip ons I purchased on ebay, in case my modifications didn't work out. I removed my modified slip ons and installed my standard set.
Plan now is to put about 2500 miles on and see how it goes. Rode to work this afternoon and it seems it runs better with the back pressure of the proper exhaust.
Also, check intake manifold joints for false air [thanks Kingglide549]. HD said spray a little BrakeKleen at the joints if the engine falters, there is a leak. In addition, check the intake test port caps are there and not leaking.
Yes, it seems so. Now to put on 2500 miles before Winter.
When I rode to work this afternoon, the bike had noticeably stronger punch when I rolled on the throttle.
Okay, I'm getting it!
I saw a 2003 VR the other day. The guy said he had a power commander and loved it.
They make a controller and an auto tune add-on . Pricey, but hey, it's a V Rod.
What is the forum consensus on auto tune?
I would tend to go with just the Power Commander or another make if you guys know a better one.
