The reason I ask is I recently acquired one, always wanted one and thought I would just keep in my collection of HD bikes. However I got it running with no trouble except the idle is at 2000 rpm way too high long after warm up. New local track is now 1/8 mile so would like to run it a little for fun. I ran some what back in the day. This would be hard on the clutch and tranny likely with that high idle at first. Has anyone ever had this issue with any V rod ?
A 2K idle is normal for that model-It's a race bike, and the cam works from 4K to 10K. Did they give you the tuner ( SE Race Tuner) when you bought it?
It had 2 maps, one for U4 race fuel, one for C25 race fuel. Hi compression 80 cubic inch with 6.4 injectors.

No they did not give me the tuner for it nor anything else, just the bike. I do not know how it is set up. I assume that each bike then had it's own race tuner and once it is lost another must be purchased if even possible to find. Likely not transferable from another bike either? I will check with my local HD dealer on the tuner. Anything else you can offer?
My local dealer is going to give it a go to set idle down as 2k for an idle is not what you need no matter the power band after our discussion to even put it in gear.
Idle set at 2K because it's not meant for street use. Two step launch system allows you to pin the throttle at 2nd bulb, system will hold launch RPM (4-5K typically) and remove the hold upon release of clutch lever. Violent kind of fun
I should clarify my previous post, you are correct about the idle at 2000 rpm, I just thought it was too high for a non race start up and local demo/show type thing. Thanks again for your input.
