I just put on my first replacement front tire in the fall. I had it done at the stealership and it cost over 300 bucks for the whole deal. I also need a rear tire (240) but I wanted to wait until spring. I only had 5000 on the front tire. There is about 6000 on the rear with just a TINY TINY bit of the center part of the tread grove left. I think 1/32. I really don't ride it that hard. Still scared of it!
I was thinking of going to a tire that is a little harder and thus lasting longer. Opinions on that? Maybe a different brand than the Dunlop Sportmaxx???
And, as far as labor goes, would I be ahead to take it off myself and take it to a shop for balancing and then put it back on at home?
Ok, so the dunlops are the hardest out of the performance tires, but what if I go to a touring tire or something. Like Dunlop Elite 3 taconitehead refered to in his referenced thread. I'm sure I could get more miles out of it, but would I go skipping off the road when I corner? What about on wet roads? would they be worse than the Sportmaxx?
